The Philosophy
Be The Train
A mindset for creators done waiting.
A movement built by filmmakers who did it themselves.
Most creators spend their careers waiting at the station.
Waiting for permission.
Waiting for funding.
Waiting for someone else to greenlight their vision.
Be The Train is about building your own momentum — and inviting others to join.
The Origin
As an aspiring actress, Selina Ringel waited years for her train to arrive.
She moved to Hollywood.
Went to film school.
Attended endless casting calls.
Searched for an agent.
But without a finished project, opportunities kept passing her by.
The industry kept telling her the same thing: we love you, but we need to see what you can do.
That's when she realized she had to become the train — create her own momentum instead of waiting for permission.
The Transformation
Instead of waiting to be cast, Selina wrote her own role.
Instead of hoping someone would produce her vision, she produced it herself.
Instead of searching for a train to hop on, she built her own — and invited others aboard.
The results speak for themselves: three feature films, a digital series, a comedy special, 20+ awards, distribution with HBO Max, STARZ, and Samuel Goldwyn Films, and screenings at Cannes, Tribeca, and Slamdance.
None of it came from waiting.
All of it came from becoming the train.
The Mindset
Core Principles
Stop Waiting, Start Building
Most creators wait for permission. Being the train means building your own momentum.
Create Your Own Opportunities
Instead of searching for an open door, build your own doorway. Write the role you want to play. Produce the story you want to tell.
Embrace Relentless Action
Trains don't stop to ask if the tracks are perfect. They move forward, solve problems, adjust course, and keep momentum.
Turn Obstacles Into Fuel
Rejection and limited budgets aren't roadblocks. They're opportunities to prove your resourcefulness.
The Alternative
Waiting at the Station
- » Hoping someone discovers you
- » Searching for the "right" opportunity
- » Waiting for permission to start
- » Blaming gatekeepers for your stagnation
- » Perfecting your pitch instead of your craft
Being the Train
- » Creating work that showcases your vision
- » Building your own opportunities
- » Starting before you're ready
- » Taking radical ownership of your career
- » Learning by doing, failing, and iterating
"The train doesn't wait for perfect conditions. It moves. It builds momentum. It creates its own path forward."
— Selina Ringel
